A Love Story Turned Design Legacy
Hello, Bermuda Run neighbors!
I’m Kendall Sharpe, the founder and lead designer behind Kendall Sharpe Designs, a full-service design and build studio built on creativity, connection, and a shared passion for making homes both beautiful and livable. Together with my husband, Kaylan, we run our business the same way we’ve built our marriage — with trust, respect, and honor.
Although I didn’t grow up in Bermuda Run, my roots are nearby in Winston-Salem, and I’ve always admired this area’s beauty, its charm, and the sense of community that seems to radiate from every street. We’ve spent time driving through the neighborhood, taking in the manicured lawns, the peaceful atmosphere, and the feeling that life here moves at just the right pace. There’s something so special about Bermuda Run — it embodies everything I try to bring into my design work: warmth, balance, and timeless appeal.
When Kaylan and I aren’t working, we’re soaking up time with our two children, Kennedy and Kanon, who keep our lives joyfully full and wonderfully unpredictable. Like many families, we juggle homework, sports practices, and dinner around the kitchen island — the same way our clients do. That shared understanding of what makes a house truly feel like home deeply influences how I approach design. I believe every space should reflect the life happening inside it.
Our story as business owners began unexpectedly. In 2020, when the world turned upside down, I found myself suddenly without a job. With two young kids at home and an uncertain future, I had a moment of panic — “Lord, what am I going to do?” But what felt like loss quickly became opportunity. Losing my job was, in hindsight, one of the best things that ever happened to me. It gave me the time and push I needed to create something of my own — something that combined my love for interiors, my entrepreneurial spirit, and my desire to help others find joy in their homes.
That spark became Kendall Sharpe Designs. What started as one woman’s dream quickly grew into a family endeavor when Kaylan came on board. Leaving behind the comfort of a steady career to join me in this venture was a leap of faith, but one that has rewarded us tenfold. His steady hand and business acumen balance my creative energy perfectly — together, we’ve built a brand that reflects who we are both personally and professionally.
We love collaborating with homeowners to reimagine their spaces — whether it’s a cozy family room refresh, a full-scale renovation, or a new build from the ground up. As a full-service design and build firm, we’re here from the very first idea to the final reveal, making sure every detail reflects our clients’ vision and lifestyle. Each project tells a story, and our greatest joy is helping clients see their own story come to life through thoughtful design.
Outside of work, you’ll likely find us exploring local shops and restaurants, spending Saturday mornings at kids’ sporting events, or hosting family dinners filled with laughter (and probably a little chaos). We truly believe that home is where life happens — and we feel so fortunate to play a part in shaping that for others.
