"Living the Volunteer Spirit" - Mocksville Woman's Club
At the Mocksville Woman’s Club, we proudly embrace our motto, “Living the Volunteer Spirit.” It’s more than a tagline—it’s who we are. Every month, our members show what it means to lead with generosity, kindness, and a heartfelt commitment to serving Davie County.
Serving Seniors & Strengthening Community
We kicked off our club year in September with a meaningful presentation from Brent Harpe, Executive Director of Davie County Senior Services. Inspired by his message and the ongoing needs of local seniors, our members voted to support the county's lunch program. Each month, clubwomen will serve lunch to seniors—a hands-on way to brighten days and build connections.
This effort joins our ongoing outreach, including:
- Bingo afternoons at Davie Rehabilitation
- The Lunch-Time Mentoring and Friendship Program at Cornatzer Elementary
- Our Little Free Library at Rich Park
- Christmas gifts for senior women through A Storehouse for Jesus
- Mocksville Woman’s Club Scholarship
Spotlight on Arts & Culture
Every service program in our club selects a project to support each year, and in October, our Arts & Culture Committee welcomed Steve Franke, Interim Executive Director of the Davie County Arts Council.
This summer, committee members learned firsthand about the technology challenges facing the Arts Council. After careful consideration, the club proudly awarded $4,000 to help fund new digital ticketing and data-tracking software—an investment in the arts and the future vibrancy of our community.
And there’s more creativity on the horizon: the committee is exploring a collaborative mural project at Davie High School. Stay tuned—there’s beautiful work ahead!
Honoring Our Past, Looking to the Future
In November, our Civic Engagement and Outreach Committee hosted longtime educators Charles and Patsy Crenshaw, who shared a rich history of the Davie County Public School system. Their stories reminded us how deeply education and community roots run in Davie County.
This season also brings one of our most meaningful traditions: Wreaths Across America. Our club proudly purchases wreaths and participates in the solemn ceremony at the Salisbury National Cemetery. It is a powerful tribute, honoring those who served and sacrificed for our country.
Celebrating the Season of Giving
In December, our Club Presidents host a festive tradition. In the joyful holiday spirit, we come together to assemble gift bags for senior women registered with A Storehouse for Jesus. Each box is filled with useful items, small treats, and plenty of love. This event is a time for laughter, gratitude, and celebration of the year’s accomplishments.
As we look ahead, our hearts are full. We are grateful for our members, our service partners, and our community—and excited for the year to come!
