Meet Bambi
When Colleen Serena moved from Staten Island, New York to Kinderton Village four years ago, she found herself right at home in a neighborhood full of friendly faces and welcoming walks. What she did not expect was that one of her biggest joys would come on four paws with a boundless spirit and a talent for stealing the spotlight.
Her pup Bambi, a two-year-old mixed breed, came into Colleen’s life through the Forsyth Humane Society. At just eight months old, Bambi had been rescued from a hoarding house where she lived among nearly fifty other animals. It was a tough beginning, and Colleen admits the journey has been challenging, but every bit worth it.
Bambi is equal parts lap dog and acrobat. She loves curling up in Colleen’s lap for a snuggle, but the moment she is ready to play, she springs into action. With the agility of her feline housemates, she can leap over the back of the couch and clear gates in her way. For a small dog, her vertical jump is nothing short of impressive.
Her appetite is just as big as her personality. “She would eat all day if you let her,” Colleen says with a laugh. “She will eat anything.” Snacks, treats, and mealtimes are always greeted with enthusiasm.
When the day winds down, Bambi happily curls up with Colleen and the cats, showing her softer, cuddlier side. Despite her rough start, she has grown into a joyful companion who fills the home with energy and affection.
Life in Kinderton Village has been made all the better with Bambi trotting at her side, turning everyday walks into mini adventures. For Colleen, it is just another reason she feels lucky to call this community home.
