Love is in the Air

Rooted in Bermuda Run: A Life Built on Partnership and Community

We met the way many strong partnerships begin—at work. I was Mike’s sales assistant, and he was a new broker at Dean Witter, just having graduated from Wake Forest University. We wisely decided working together probably wasn’t the best long-term idea, and I promptly found a new job.  In 1988, we were married, beginning a life full of ups, downs, beautiful memories and shared goals.

As our careers developed, our family did too. We welcomed two children, Ashley and Evan, and soon realized that choosing the right place to raise them mattered just as much as any other decision we made. In 2000, that led us to Bermuda Run.

From the start, Bermuda Run felt like more than a neighborhood—it felt like a community. Our children grew up immersed in activities that became part of everyday life: tennis, golf, and swim team. These weren’t just pastimes; they were opportunities for friendships, structure, and time spent together. As a family, we shared countless hours on the tennis courts and golf course, creating memories that still define those years.

As life evolved, so did our needs. After Ashley and Evan left home, we chose to downsize from our large family home to a townhouse in Warwicke Place in Bermuda Run, allowing us to remain in the community we love while embracing a simpler, more relaxed lifestyle. We’ve now been part of Bermuda Run for 25 years, and staying here has always felt like the right choice.

One of our greatest joys is that both of our children now live locally. Evan married his longtime love, Kade, in December of this year, and Ashley married her high school sweetheart, Alex, in 2016. They are expecting a baby girl in March of 2026, our first grandchild and a milestone we are eagerly awaiting.

These days, life moves at a slower pace. We enjoy familiar routines, meaningful connections, and time at home with our dog, Sophie. Mike continues his work as a financial planner, while I transitioned into real estate several years ago, a role shaped by our own experience of how the right home can support every stage of life.  I’m so luck to live and work right here in Bermuda Run with Hillsdale Real Estate. We still love to play right in our community, continuing to enjoy golf and tennis along with my love of cooking and Mike’s love of fishing.

Looking back, Bermuda Run has been more than just where we lived. It’s where we raised our family, adapted to change, and built a life that continues to bring us joy. As we look ahead to grandparenthood and new chapters, we’re grateful to still call this community home.
