Inclement Weather Holds Off for April Tournament

Myles Hutton on Par 4 Miller #7 with a hole in one

The torrential rains commenced as the final groups were reporting their scores in the Bentwater Men’s Golf Association’s (MGA) tournament on April 20th.  A total of 52 golfers competed in the four-man two-better ball tournament on the Bentwater Miller course.

The team of Ben Griffin, Wade Smith, Charlie Berger, and Rom Michels had the low overall gross two-ball score of 4 over par 148. Teams with the lowest net scores were as follows:

The next MGA event is the Two-Man No Scotch Tournament on June 15th on the Bentwater Weiskopf course. In this fun and unusual format, both players tee off on each hole and for the second shot, the players switch balls and hit each other’s drives.  After the second shot, the best ball is selected, and a two-man scramble rule is used until the ball is holed. Don’t miss out on this enjoyable event!

MGA Play Days Gearing Up For Summer

Each Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. the MGA hosts its weekly play day events, matching members together in friendly competition. In addition to playing with golfers outside your usual group, you can earn valuable points towards qualifying for the three Play Day tournaments with significant prize money. MGA members need to sign up on the regular Thursday morning tee sheets now while there is still time to get in on these tournaments.

Rare Double Eagle Ace

On April 8th, MGA member Myles Hutton accomplished a rare feat by recording a hole in one on the par four 7th hole on the Bentwater Miller course. The double eagle (or "albatross," if you prefer) is the second ace on the 224-yard par four by an MGA member in the last year. Myles’ playing partners had thought the ball rolled off the back of the green, but the celebration began when they finally checked in the hole. Congratulations, Myles!
