How many people does the company employ?
Just me

How long has it been in business?
Since 2021

What prompted you to start your business?
What sparked my business was a deep passion for fashion. I’ve always been drawn to clothes and accessories, fascinated by how they express personality and creativity. One day, I bought some materials and started experimenting—first with recycled leather earrings, then branching into necklaces and keychains. Over time, my focus naturally evolved, and now I specialize in hats and bags. Every piece I create reflects my journey, my values, and my love for making fashion meaningful, stylish and sustainable.

Describe what your company does:
I make one-of-a-kind accessories, made with care, creativity, and a personal touch.

Anything extraordinary/unique that your company does?
What makes Hecho a Mano truly unique is the way I create each piece: one at a time, using recycled materials like leather scraps, old clothes, scarves, and vintage jewelry. Every item is handcrafted and completely one-of-a-kind. No mass production, just meaningful, wearable art that reflects my style and my values. Sustainability, individuality, and creativity are at the core of everything I make.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to the residents of Belterra?
One piece of advice I always love to share with my neighbors is: Keep recycling and consider going thrifting—I absolutely love it! Not only is it fun and affordable, but it’s also a great way to reduce waste and give new life to existing materials. Every little action helps our planet. And while you’re at it, shop local and support local artists. When you buy from small businesses, you’re supporting real people, creativity, and community.

How did you decide on this industry?
Fashion has fascinated me since I was little. I’ve always been drawn to colors, textures, and the art of putting things together in a way that feels unique and expressive. My background as a Graphic Designer taught me so much about composition, balance, and creativity, skills I still use every day in my work with Hecho a Mano. But my journey doesn’t stop there. I also teach exercise classes, which keep me active and allow me to help others take care of their bodies and minds. And more recently, I’ve become a Pre-K aide at a small school at our church, a role that brings me so much joy and purpose. Each of these paths may seem different, but they all connect in unexpected ways. They all reflect my love for creativity, connection, and community.

What section of the neighborhood do you live in and how long have you lived there?
We live in the Aspen Hills area, in a cozy little cul-de-sac and have been in Belterra since 2017.

Tell us about your family:
I'm married to Craig, who works in the tech industry, and we've shared 23 wonderful years together. We have two amazing kids who are truly my heart and inspiration: Connor, who is studying Materials Engineering at Purdue University, and Ava, a senior at Dripping Springs High School. Watching them grow, pursue their dreams, and navigate life with courage and determination brings me immeasurable joy. They are my "why", the reason I keep going, growing, and giving my best every single day.

What are you your hobbies/interests?
I'm also a proud member of a local CoOp called Hand Made at Nutty Brown. Have you ever driven on Nutty Brown and noticed the big hammer mailbox? That’s actually the entrance to a magical spot where several local artists have their studios and where we host our CoOp shop. We're open every Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and you’re welcome to call and schedule a visit outside of those hours too.

Don’t miss our annual ’Tis the Season Holiday Market on December 13th from 10 AM to 5 PM. It’s a great opportunity to shop local, meet the artists, and soak in some holiday cheer.

We are located: 12919 Nutty Brown Rd. Austin, TX 78737. Ph# (512) 270-0435
