Belmont Animal Hospital

Providing Exceptional Veterinary Care. Meet the incredible team of compassionate and intelligent people who care about their patients, and their people on the other end of the leash.

What is the history behind Belmont Animal Hospital?
Belmont Animal Hospital was founded by Dr. Baker Eadie and Dr. Malcolm Sewell in 2008, and opened our doors to patients for the first time on April 13th 2009. Nashville natives Dr. Sewell and Dr. Eadie, high school friends and neighbors, joined together to open a hospital in which they could emphasize compassionate patient care combined with the type of client communication they felt a thriving city like Nashville needed.

While Dr. Eadie has started a new chapter in his career, we do get to see him from time to time and Dr. Sewell is still seeing patients regularly. Since our foundation, we've grown quite a bit and are so lucky to have an incredible professional team including Dr. Sarah Zika, Dr. Bailey Nelson, Dr. John Mays, Dr. Rebecca McInroe, Dr. Ruzena Pack and our newest addition, Dr. Rachel O'Rear.

What is your mission?

At Belmont Animal Hospital, our mission is to provide exceptional veterinary care to enhance the health and well-being of the pets in our community. We pursue our objective by committing to superior service and fostering meaningful relationships with our clients and their pets. With medical excellence and integrity always within focus, we prioritize education, mentorship, and evolving with the mindset that there is always room for improvement.

What services do you offer?
We offer veterinary preventative wellness and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00a-8:00p we offer urgent care services. We have an incredible team of compassionate and intelligent people who care about our patients and their people on the other end of the leash.

How does Belmont Animal Hospital connect with and contribute to the community?
We are very passionate about teaching and mentoring at our hospital. We host student experiences for people of all ages from volunteering and shadowing to internships and veterinary student externships. We love to support local elementary school auctions & fundraisers, we enjoy participating in local festivals, and this year we hosted our second annual pumpkin collection extravaganza! Thanks to the incredible community response, we were able to feed the elephants at the Elephant Sanctuary down in Hohenwald, TN and lots of hungry farm animal rescues across Middle Tennessee.

We do our very best to love our planet by reducing as much plastic-use as possible and recycle every chance we get. We often get a chuckle when our first-timers question the boxed-water we have available in our lobby-fridge - it isn't milk, but it is refreshing!

Every business faces challenges. Can you share insights into any challenges your business has overcome and the growth that resulted?
A big challenge that we have been facing is with the economy that seems to be impacting all of us. We are grateful for the constructive feedback we receive and are sensitive to our prices as well as the negative light shining on our industry regarding the increasing costs of veterinary care. We will continue to make the best recommendations for every pet under our care, but without applying any undue pressure on anyone. We are here to partner with our clients and support each one do the best they can to grant each pet the best opportunity for a long and healthy life. To help mitigate some of this, we have adopted relationships with financial institutions to help spread out the costs of veterinary care, hopefully making things a little more affordable and a bit more predictable in such a troublesome economy.

Another challenge is keeping up with the constant advancements with technology. We have an obligation to provide our patients and community with a state-of-the-art facility that provides the best quality medicine available while keeping up with the newest and greatest technologies - but without compromising the personal touch, which can be hard to do! We have implemented quite a few big changes in 2025 with more to come in 2026 and understand how important it is to provide our clients with the resources they need and deserve to be the best pet-parent they can be. We have intentionally avoided phone trees and client-interfacing Ai platforms, so if you call, email or text (during business hours), it’s a human being on the other end answering.

Finally, the introduction of our urgent care this past spring has been an exciting adventure. Since April 26th, we have been open for urgent care services from 8:00a-8:00p on Saturdays and Sundays - and many of our clients still don't know we're here! We received quite a bit of feedback from our clients that they missed having us here on the weekends, and after some intense planning - we recruited the team we needed to support the concept. The urgent care is designed to serve as a point of care between general practice and emergency care and is priced accordingly. We are so lucky to have not just one emergency hospital, but two that serve our community. We appreciate all that they do and understand that the urgent care services that we provide gives them the opportunity to focus their efforts and energy on true critical emergencies.

What's your vision for the future of Belmont Animal Hospital?
We have some new and exciting things brewing but aren't quite ready to announce them yet. Stay tuned!
