Pet's Age: 6 years old
How long has your family lived in the neighborhood?
We have lived in our house on Cedar Lane for 6 years now, which is hard to believe!
What do you like most about living here?
We absolutely love the sidewalks and walkability of the neighborhood.
When and how did Maggie come to join your family?
Maggie was a Covid puppy! We moved into our house right before Covid hit, and had planned on getting a dog later that year, after some travel. Once we knew we wouldn’t be leaving home for a while, we decided it was a good time to get a puppy. We were newly married with no kids but knew we wanted a family eventually. A yellow lab seemed like a great family dog and a local breeder had one that a family could not travel to come get. We met her and knew immediately she was coming home with us.
What's the story behind her name?
We love the song ‘Magnolia’ by J.J. Cale, so we named her Magnolia- Maggie for short.
What's the one trait or behavior that makes Maggie stand out from the rest?
She works harder than any dog I’ve ever seen at getting head rubs and attention. If you walk by our house at all, you know! She is exceptionally good at it- it’s her best talent. That and eating.
Does she have any unique talents or tricks?
She’s swallowed socks whole before- does that count? Jokes aside, she can sit and shake. And she always knows exactly when it’s 5pm and time for dinner.
What are Maggie's favorite toys or treats?
Maggie is a typical lab - She has never met a treat she doesn’t like! We get her toys from time to time, but she seems to love our kids toys more than her own.
We've heard from her friends that Maggie is famous in the neighborhood - just how famous is she?!
We have really loved every time we’ve taken Maggie on a walk and had someone come up to us and say, “hey Maggie!” even if we haven’t met them yet. We are constantly reminded how much love she gets from the neighborhood, and it’s such a good feeling.
Where does Maggie love to hang out in the neighborhood?
Our front yard! She has an invisible fence, but that doesn’t stop her from visiting with anyone walking by.
Who is Maggie's best friend in the neighborhood?
Definitely our neighbor’s dog, Otis.
(You may remember him from the February precious pets feature and January cover!)
Are there any local businesses or parks your pet particularly enjoys visiting?
She loves 12 South Taproom (who doesn’t!) and Sevier Park.
If your pet could choose any adventure to go on, what would it be?
Maggie loves to run, so her perfect day would probably be out on a farm with a creek - somewhere with a lot of good smells.
