Ella's House

Helping Student Mothers on their Path to Graduation

Ella’s House has served pregnant and parenting college students since its founding, working to remove the barriers that too often derail higher education for young mothers. Since opening its doors, the organization has supported hundreds of scholars and their children through safe housing, childcare assistance, life-skills programming, and one-on-one advocacy. Their Nest house—serving scholars who are pregnant or parenting babies under one year old—is located right in our backyard.

Designed specifically for student parents at the highest risk of dropping out due to housing insecurity, financial hardship, or limited family support, Ella’s House provides comprehensive, wraparound care. By addressing both academic and parenting needs, the program creates a clear pathway toward degree completion and long-term family stability.

Ella’s House serves some of the most overlooked families in our community, including first-generation college students, single mothers without local support systems, women aging out of foster care, and families navigating poverty while pursuing higher education.

The need for this work is urgent:
• Nearly one in five women will experience pregnancy during college.
• Housing instability remains one of the leading reasons student mothers stop out of school.
• Without targeted housing and childcare support, student parents are significantly less likely to graduate.

Ella’s House’s mission is to ensure pregnant and parenting students have the housing, resources, and community they need to earn their degrees and build stable futures for their families.
