Family-owned McDaniel Service Inc. puts relationships first

For Robert McDaniel Jr., Northern Virginia is more than a service area — it’s home. Born, raised and educated in the region, McDaniel represents the second generation of leadership at McDaniel Service, Inc., a family-owned plumbing and HVAC company rooted deeply in the community it serves.
“Northern Virginia isn’t just where we do business — it’s home,” McDaniel said. 

That sense of connection extends generations. McDaniel’s father has spent nearly 60 years working in the HVAC and plumbing industries, while McDaniel and his mother have each been involved for close to four decades. Founded in 2010, McDaniel Service, Inc. may be relatively young as a company, but its foundation is built on decades of hands-on experience.

“Following in my father’s footsteps, I entered the industry immediately after graduating from high school and have never looked back,” McDaniel said. The company was created with a clear purpose: to bring professionalism, trust and consistency back to service work. McDaniel said the family recognized early on how important it is for customers to feel confident inviting technicians into their homes and businesses.

“We wanted to build a company that combined technical expertise with professionalism, honesty, and respect,” he said. “A place where customers are listened to, educated, and treated like long-term partners rather than one-time transactions.”

McDaniel Service, Inc. provides comprehensive heating, air conditioning and plumbing services for residential and light commercial customers. Offerings include routine maintenance, diagnostic services, repairs and full system installations across all major brands, along with plumbing services such as drain clearing, water heater installation and leak repairs.

“Our goal is to respond promptly and deliver solutions that are done right the first time,” McDaniel said. “By offering a full range of trusted services under one roof, we’re able to simplify the process for our customers and serve as a dependable, long-term partner for their home and business needs”
Transparency is central to the company’s approach. McDaniel said the team avoids high-pressure sales tactics, instead focusing on education and clear communication.

“We focus on providing clear information, practical solutions, and multiple options so customers can make educated decisions that are right for their needs and their budget,” he said.

Community involvement is another cornerstone of the business. McDaniel Service, Inc. sponsors local events such as Art on the Avenue in Del Ray, collects toys for children in need during the winter months, and provides services for military members at Fort Belvoir and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.
Looking ahead, McDaniel recently celebrated the company’s 15th anniversary and sees a future firmly rooted in family and continuity.

“As a second-generation family member, I’m committed to carrying forward the values the business was founded on,” he said. “Today, we’re fortunate already to have third-generation family members involved, and with the recent arrival of my first grandchild, it’s inspiring to think about the possibility of a fourth generation being part of the company 25 years from now.”

For Belle Haven residents, McDaniel offered simple advice rooted in prevention: change air filters regularly, schedule annual maintenance, watch for small changes and know where the main water shutoff is located.
