Kensington Intermediate Celebrates 100 Years

Students, alumni, and families gather to honor a century of tradition and community education in Beach Cliff.

For a century, Kensington Intermediate School has stood as a cornerstone of education in Rocky River. Serving third through fifth graders, the school marked its 100th anniversary with a community-wide centennial celebration that brought together current students, dedicated faculty, proud parents, and alumni spanning several generations.

The milestone event showcased the school's rich history while honoring its enduring role in shaping local youth. Historical displays lined the halls, offering visitors a nostalgic look back at Kensington's evolution from its early days in the 1920s to the modern, vibrant learning environment it is today.

During the festivities, school leaders and community members reflected on the tradition of excellence that defines Kensington. Attendees shared stories of favorite teachers, recalled longstanding school traditions, and celebrated the generations of Rocky River families whose educational journeys began within those very walls. Current students participated in special centennial-themed activities, connecting the school's proud past to its bright future.

As Kensington enters its second century, the anniversary served as a meaningful reminder of how deeply tied our local schools are to the fabric of the neighborhood. The dedication of the staff, the enthusiasm of the students, and the overwhelming support of local families ensure that Kensington Intermediate School will continue inspiring young minds for decades to come.
