Let’s bounce! Jeff Roberts is the owner and general manager of Austin Bounce House Rentals (ABHR). His goal is to have the most positive impact possible in our community. “We love our customers, and we love what we do; it’s not work, it’s a mission that we have the blessing of living out every day.” But his journey over the past 25 years would seem a bit unexpected if you knew him back in the day.

 

Who doesn’t love a good back story? This is a fun one! After high school, Jeff thought he was on his way to stardom. He started out as a music major but then left Central Michigan University after the 2nd year to pursue a more practical approach; he moved straight to Hollywood, CA, to pursue a music career! He was able to connect to the industry in a way some of us only dream of. He actually toured professionally as a drummer after he was signed to an Indy record label. Eventually, Jeff eventually graduated from a Southern California music school with certificates in performance, composition, and management. Where’s the connection to kids' bounce houses and cotton candy?

 

He has remained involved in the music scene through publishing and software development. He eventually transitioned to the business world using skills developed in the creative arts to approach problem-solving in a more organic and uniquely effective way. After consulting for multiple companies across manufacturing, service, entertainment, product development, and research industries, Jeff ventured out and started a film/video production company. This kept him closer to the entertainment and events side of things, which ultimately lead him to owning the party rental business.

 

ABHR began in 2015 after Jeff and another principal partner, Danny Torres, spent 30 years searching for the right place to land (professionally speaking, that is). It’s easy to understand the benefit of a bounce house, slide, or other fun, inflatable rental in a neighborhood full of kids and families like Balcones & Spicewood. However, without the back story, no one would understand the passion behind the business. There seems to be a much deeper purpose associated with how ABHR does business. Having benefited from over a quarter-century of experience in the event entertainment and party rental business, they sought to create a brand that not only provided a great variety of high quality, well-kept, and expertly serviced party rental products, but to do so with a human-centric purpose in mind. They wanted to create a company that adds value to the community, not only on a personal level but on a larger scale. This is the best part – they’re very involved with non-profits and community organizations all across Greater Austin and the surrounding communities and have been since the beginning. They don’t want to profit from the community, the mission is for the community to profit from them in ways that make life more meaningful, enjoyable, and more family centric. The ABHR is in the “happiness business,” and Jeff considers it their job to bring positive and happy moments to kids, parents, party guests, and even the ABHR staff.

 

They believe in the strength of this neighborhood, our city, state, and country and know that it all starts with the family. Jeff and his team also work with churches, schools, non-profits, and community organizations on large events and fundraisers throughout the year, too. They will give donations, partial donations, and other support as they’re able because Jeff believes that a business has a duty to the community to support it to give back in meaningful ways. Plus, it feels really good to serve in this capacity. If every business did a little more like this, it would mean a lot in a community like ours. It is no surprise that ABHR is one of the fastest-growing party rental companies in Central Texas. They will keep striving to achieve greatness and reaching further in order to focus on what’s important, the customer relationship. Jeff’s motto is to Grow, Give & Be Grateful.

When asked how long it usually takes to set up a rental…“the fastest we’ve ever set up a bounce house was in 3 1/2 minutes! We had 3 installers, it was set in the front yard, and our truck was parked 5 feet away. Plus, the extension cord was already run”.  Realistically, it’s more like 15 minutes.
