About Us
McCormick Vision Source has been a cornerstone of eye care in northwest Austin for more than 30 years. Dr. Michael McCormick and his wife lived in a nearby neighborhood while raising their children and now reside in Georgetown. Dr. McCormick manages ocular disease and helps patients with complex visual needs. Dr. Emery focuses on dry eye care, while Dr. Scotty specializes in myopia management and general patient care. Our doctors also work with specialty contact lenses for presbyopia and corneal issues from keratoconus or post-surgical irregularities.
History & Mission
McCormick Vision Source was founded over 30 years ago by Dr. Michael McCormick and his brother, Dr. John McCormick (retired), with the mission of building lifelong relationships with patients and their families. From the beginning, the goal was to provide high-quality, compassionate, and personalized care in a family-oriented environment.
Dr. McCormick believes in continuity of care and has had the privilege of treating many "third-generation" patients — children, their parents, and now their grandparents. That deep-rooted connection remains at the heart of the practice’s mission. Today, all of our doctors share that same dedication to building long-term relationships and delivering care you can count on for decades.

What Sets Us Apart
At McCormick Vision Source, we’re a long-term partner in your family’s health and wellness. What makes our practice truly unique is the deep, personal connection we build with our patients. Many of our patients have been with us for decades, and we’re proud to care for multiple generations within the same family.
We strive to create a welcoming environment where patients feel known, respected, and supported. Our team takes the time to listen, educate, and develop customized care plans that evolve with each patient’s needs. With continuity of care at the heart of our mission, we’re committed to helping you see clearly and live fully—today and for years to come.
Community Connection
Being part of the Austin community for over 3 decades means being a neighbor, a supporter, and an active participant in the lives of those we serve.
We’ve supported local schools, youth sports teams, and charitable organizations throughout the years, and we love seeing our patients outside the exam room—at school events, neighborhood gatherings, and local businesses. We’re also proud to provide education and resources on eye health through community outreach and social media, helping families better understand their vision needs.
Our new office location places us even closer to the heart of the community we’ve always served, and we’re excited to continue building meaningful relationships.
Challenges and Growth
Like many long-standing businesses, McCormick Vision Source has navigated its share of challenges over the years. One of the most significant was our recent move to a new office location after more than three decades in the same space. Uprooting years of equipment, optical inventory, and history was no small task—but it allowed us to rethink, reorganize, and re-invest in our future.
The move brought fresh energy and new opportunities to better serve our patients, with an updated layout, modern technology, and improved workflow. Most importantly, we were able to make the transition without losing the personal, family-focused atmosphere that defines our practice.  Each challenge we’ve faced has ultimately helped us grow stronger and more adaptable.
Vision for the Future
At McCormick Vision Source, our goal is to continue building on the strong foundation we've established—while evolving to meet the changing needs of our patients and our community. We’re especially focused on growing two key areas: myopia management for children and advanced dry eye treatments. These are rapidly expanding areas of care that can make a meaningful difference in long-term visual outcomes and daily comfort. We're also enhancing our specialty contact lens offerings to support patients with complex vision needs.
Our vision is to remain a trusted eye care home for families across multiple generations—combining personalized care with clinical excellence.
Advice for Residents
Your eyes are the windows to your overall health—so don’t wait for vision problems to arise before scheduling an exam. Here’s our top advice to keep your family’s eyes healthy:
  • Schedule annual exams: Routine check-ups allow us to detect early signs of disease before they impact your vision.
  • Prioritize children’s eye health: Early screening and myopia management can set kids up for long-term success.
  • Protect against UV and digital strain: Use sunglasses and follow the 20-20-20 rule to reduce fatigue.
  • Nutrition and lifestyle matter: Healthy habits support retinal and tear film health.
  • Ask us about specialty care: Early care leads to better outcomes.
By staying proactive and partnering with your eye-care team, you’ll enjoy clearer vision, better comfort, and healthier eyes for years to come.
