With Augusta Pines Resident Author Tonya Sharp Hyche

Let’s talk books! Welcome to my first bi-monthly article for the homeowners of Augusta Pines. Each article will highlight books read by our community and help give feedback on finding new books to read as well as new authors to try.
Let me first introduce myself:
My husband Steve and I moved to Augusta Pines last summer after moving from The Woodlands area 15 years ago. Quickly I was introduced to women who enjoy my interests: golf, rummikub, and books.   I first moved to The Woodlands back in 1998 and taught high school history at McCullough and then College Park HS at the opening in 2005.
After 18 years of teaching, I’m now retired and writing novels full time.  My newest release, In Plain Sight, debuted in January 2024. I first began writing mystery and suspense novels when my husband moved me to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. When we returned three years later, 6 novels were published on Amazon and Amazon Kindle.
Writing is a hobby that I’m passionate about and have 11 published novels.  I enjoy meeting and talking to book clubs and traveling around and setting up at local festivals talking to new readers and signing novels. I had the honor to speak to the Augusta Pines Book Club in January when they chose my novel Data Bank as their book choice of the month.
Augusta Pines Book Club January Highlight:
Data Bank by Tonya Sharp Hyche
Resident Quote by Paula Anderson: Data Bank swept me up almost immediately. It’s fast paced, and the plot is completely believable but with loads of twists and turns all the way through.  I liked it so much I had to read another suspense novel by Tonya.
Shadow Creek Book Club February Highlight:
The Caretaker by Ron Rash
Resident Quote by Debbie Whitaker: I loved everything about this book--the setting 1950's, the characters, the story, and especially the beautiful prose. This is a story of Gant Blackburn, a caretaker living in North Carolina who also has a long-time best friend, Jacob, who must leave to serve in the Korean War. Jacob's new wife, Naomi is pregnant, and Jacob has asked Blackburn to look after her while he is away. Jacob has also asked his parents to help Naomi, but they have refused. Blackburn and Naomi become friends as they go through the long days awaiting Jacob's return. In my opinion, Gant Blackburn is truly the unsung hero of the book! The small-town life is clearly drawn here as we get a good look at the gossipers and naysayers about the marriage of Jacob and Naomi. I was very invested in this story and these characters, and I was anxious to know the outcome. Thank you, Ron Rash. This book has everything I am looking for in a book.
