Hello, Dolly! The Sweet Story of an Ardsley Park "Foster Fail"

When Caroline volunteered to open her home to a foster cat through Coastal Pet Rescue, she was nervous about handling an adult stray because she had raised previous cats from kittens to adulthood. But Dolly was not at all what she expected. Instead of being wild and unruly, the long haired black and white tuxedo kitty was as sweet as could be.

After having Dolly in her home for several weeks, Coastal Pet Rescue contacted Caroline with great news; Dolly had a family that was interested in meeting and adopting her for her forever home. It wasn’t until they were driving to the meeting spot that Caroline realized how attached she had become to Dolly. She worried that moving into another new home might also be
unsettling for Dolly. Then in a twist of fate the prospective family was a no-show and Caroline seized the opportunity to give Dolly a forever home by officially joining the ranks of other “foster fails” and adopting Dolly on the spot! Coastal Pet Rescue had named Dolly, but Caroline decided to keep the name because she loves when pets are named after historical heroines and you can’t get a much bigger namesake than Dolly Parton. Dolly also suits the sweet kitty with
her petite frame and charming personality.

It’s been a little over 5 years since Caroline adopted Dolly and she is truly living her best life. When she isn’t enjoying her favorite flavor of Fancy Feast, she can be found sunning herself on the screened-in back porch or bird, squirrel, and dog watching from one of her various window perches.
