Casting Into Spring with Tall Tides Charters
Warmer weather means more time on the water — and few experiences capture the spirit of spring in Savannah quite like sight-fishing its winding tidal marshes. At Tall Tides Charters, that seasonal shift marks the start of unforgettable days chasing redfish across glassy flats, learning the rhythms of the coast, and connecting with a fishery that defines the region.
Founded in 2018 after eight years guiding in Montana, Tall Tides Charters is a locally owned and operated, Orvis Endorsed fly and light-tackle fishing outfitter specializing in conservation-minded experiences throughout the coastal marsh ecosystem. But for its founder, the mission extends beyond simply putting anglers on fish.
The vision is to help establish Savannah as one of the world’s premier sight-fishing destinations while setting a high bar for professionalism, education, and stewardship in coastal guiding. Through mentorship, thoughtful growth, and a shared respect for the resource, Tall Tides is building a team dedicated to protecting the fishery and delivering meaningful experiences on the water.
A Savannah native whose family has called the area home for generations, the owner lives in Ardsley Park with his wife — a healthcare professional serving the local community — and their young daughter. Becoming a parent has deepened his commitment to conservation and to ensuring future generations can experience the same wild beauty found in today’s marshes.
When he’s not poling skiffs across the flats, you’ll find him woodworking, playing tennis, traveling, cooking, or enjoying music — pursuits that reflect the same appreciation for craft and connection that define his work on the water.
What sets Tall Tides apart is its blend of deep local knowledge, elite guiding experience, and a philosophy rooted in respect for both angler and environment. Trips are designed not just to catch fish, but to teach, inspire, and foster a genuine connection to the coastal ecosystem.
For Ardsley Park residents curious about fly fishing, eager to chase redfish, or interested in traveling to world-class fisheries, Tall Tides welcomes anglers of all experience levels to learn and explore.
As the tides rise this spring, the mission remains clear: protect the resource, elevate the guiding profession, and share the extraordinary waters that make Savannah’s coast unforgettable.
