Fetching Joy: The Delightful Days of Winnie the Springer

Say hello to Winnie Rackett! Winnie is a ten year old tri-colored English Spaniel, and like all Springers, she bounces and springs up off the ground when she runs! Winnie’s mom Vernice tells me that their family has always loved Springers and sweet Winnie is their fourth one. After their dog Lucy passed away, Vernice’s husband located Winnie from a breeder in Virginia and they immediately fell in love with her. Winnie is short for Winifred Gem of Chatham Crescent, and she is named after a dear family friend, Winifred, who Vernice says is “full of laughter and joy.” Winnie is a very intelligent girl. She has mastered various tricks and commands and will do anything for a treat including sit, stay, down, come and shake. Winnie loves to play fetch and will also just carry around her favorite toys to show them off. She is most fond of her lamb, chicken and large reindeer. Winnie also loves taking daily walks with her mom to Theus Park and along the Atlantic mall promenade. When it’s time for a bath, Vernice takes Winnie to Bentley’s and she always leaves looking and smelling her best! Vernice says Winnie is loyal and loving. “Winnie is my pal, my companion, my savior dog. My favorite time is early morning when she gingerly crawls up to me on the bed, places her head in my lap as I sip coffee and read my devotional. She helps set the day.”
