Pet of the Month: Shiba (and her cute pet siblings!)

Shiba's big brother, Ben
Pet parents Kim and Kathy had decided one day that their senior dog Benjamin, three
cats (Peaches, Furcat and Moo Kitty), and a pond full of fish were not quite enough so
they adopted Shiba! She is a black lab mix and gentle giant that loves dogs, cats, kids,
and any human that will pay attention to her. Shiba has never met a stranger and at two
years old she keeps her older canine brother and feline siblings on their toes!
Shiba was the name given to her at birth by Renegade Paws Rescue, and by the time
she was adopted at three months old she was already answering to it so the name
stuck. Shiba also remains friends with her littermate Kai and they look forward to their
play dates at Solomon’s Park where they have a blast racing around and doing donuts
together in the grass.
When she isn’t hanging out with Kai, Shiba loves going to daycare at Animal House,
meet ups at the Daffin dog park, and playing with her neighborhood buddies Piper,
Copper, Ruby and Aida. She also loves to play with her big brother Benjamin on the trails
at Skidaway Island park. When she isn’t playing with her furry friends, Shiba enjoys
people and pup watching at restaurants like Sly's as well as taking evening strolls
around Ardsley, downtown, and along the riverfront. Shiba loves playing with toys and
whichever toy is in front of her is her favorite! She lives for treats as well as the chance
to mess with the kitties. Also, if Benjamin has something in his mouth - Shiba wants it.
Of the many wonderful memories Kim and Kathy have made with Shiba, helping her
learn how to swim has been their favorite so far. It took them a year of patience and
work to get her in the water and now she loves to swim. Her family loves to visit
Butterbean Beach where Shiba is excited to meet other dogs and kids to play with. She
might be afraid of the new Hull Park splash pad, but we know she will come to love
playing there, too!
