Ardsley's Garden Gate

The Ardsley Park Chatham Crescent Garden Club and Neighborhood Association have teamed up to create a new initiative called the Grow Getters. The concept is for neighbors to garden together to make our neighborhood entrances beautiful. Recently they announced participating in the City of Savannah's Adopt-a-Spot Program to create Ardsley’s Garden Gate – Victory. This 320 SQ FT area is located in the median at the intersection of Abercorn Street and Victory Drive in Savannah, Georgia.
The concept for the project was introduced by our longtime garden club member, Judy Miller. During Judy’s tenure as Project Committee Chair, the committee gained knowledge of the irrigation system, which was a key discovery for the success of this initiative.
Once the garden club received permission from the City of Savannah, they teamed up with the neighborhood association and together developed a plan. The team began remediating the soil in September and in November, planted an array of blooming plants for the winter season.

The Spring/Summer garden features a wall of Encore White Lily Azaleas, a cluster of blooming Foxglove anda bed of 60 Hot Coral and Rose Glow Sunpatiens.
Now Ardsley’s Garden Gate – Victory, with its flowering annuals and lush green foliage serves as a beautiful gateway into the historic Ardsley Park neighborhood. The garden is positioned between the iconic Spanish style pillars at one of the key entrances to Ardsley Park.
The Keep Savannah Beautiful - Adopt-a-Spot Program seeks volunteers to assist with keeping public spaces clean. The goal of the program is to inspire individuals to take greater responsibility for creating a clean and beautiful city through litter prevention and community beautification.
By having our volunteers remove litter and maintaining the site, we save the City vital time cleaning and inspecting areas, thereby saving public tax dollars. According to the City of Savannah, the increased citizen involvement in litter control and beautification strengthens the community and neighborhood pride which is a cornerstone in the Ardsley Park / Chatham Crescent Garden Club and Ardsley Park Neighborhood Association's mission.
