Down to Earth and Incredibly Talented Josh Owens

If you were at our Fall Festival this October, you probably heard the unmistakable sound of Josh Owens drifting through the crowd—rich, rootsy, and carrying that familiar mix of foot-tapping joy and old-soul storytelling. Josh isn’t just a musician; he’s a craftsman of a style that blends the finest years of country music with the drive of bluegrass and just a pinch of something he swears can’t be explained. Whatever that “inexplicable” ingredient is, it works.
Josh has spent nearly two decades playing music, starting as a kid of 10 or 11 and eventually performing with several bands across the Savannah area. Born in Savannah in 1997 and raised in Richmond Hill, he now calls Bloomingdale home. And while he’s played in countless lineups over the years, his current chapter looks a little different—and a whole lot bolder.
After the sudden passing of his father in early 2025, Josh stepped back from music to regroup and recenter. When he returned, he made himself a promise: if he was going to do this again, he’d do it entirely his way. “I’ll play what I like to play, write what I want to hear, and have a good time doing it,” he says. Success or not, he’s determined that the journey itself will be worth it. That mindset has shaped the solo project he’s now building from the ground up.
One thing that sets Josh apart in today’s music landscape is his approach to visibility. “Most local bands fall into one of two categories,” he says. “They’re either incredible musicians, or incredible promoters.” Josh has watched some of the best players around skip social media altogether—yet he’s betting on the opposite strategy. Right now his efforts are laser-focused on online growth. He still plays a few gigs, but he’s devoting most of his time to recording and sharing videos from his home studio. As he puts it, he’s testing the theory that consistency and creativity online can build something big.
And big things are coming. In 2026, Josh plans to bring someone onboard to handle video editing, giving him more space to hone the music itself. The milestone he’s most excited for? Recording a full-length album at the legendary Capricorn Studios in Macon, GA—an opportunity that feels both exhilarating and surreal.
Beyond music, Josh keeps things simple: he’s a weekend MMA watcher, an avid fisherman, and someone who’s happiest with a guitar in hand—“Fishin’, Fightin’, and Pickin’,” as he says.
For those wanting to catch him live, he has monthly dates booked at Our Place Pub in Rincon through the first half of 2026, often joined by his friend Andrew Keatts. New shows will be posted on his social media pages—right where he’s building something all his own.
