Meet the Verrillos of Ardsley Park
New Neighbors with Deep Roots, a Little Dog Named Figgy, and a Love for Adventure

If you’ve noticed a very enthusiastic little Italian Greyhound zipping around the neighborhood, you’ve likely just met Figgy—and where Figgy goes, Caitlin and William Verrillo are close behind! Though they only moved to Ardsley Park in October 2024, their roots in the neighborhood run deep. William’s great-grandfather actually commissioned the building of the family home at 633 E. 45th Street, and now, generations later, the Verrillos are back to carry on the tradition.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska (Caitlin) and Albuquerque, New Mexico (William), this dynamic duo brings an infectious energy to the neighborhood—whether they're exploring new local restaurants, walking Figgy, or sailing off Tybee. Weekends often include strolls through the farmers market, beach days with William’s great aunt, or letting the wind take them wherever it pleases aboard their Hobie Cat.
When they’re not on the water, they’re still chasing adventure. Caitlin, who began her career as an elementary art teacher, still finds joy in painting and gardening—and her banana bread is apparently legendary. William is a reconstructive dentist with a passion for paleontology. Together, they recently earned American Sailing Association certifications during a trip to Grenada and have even gone fossil hunting with the University of New Mexico in the Chaco deserts of Paraguay. Now that’s a travel story!
Professionally, Caitlin recently transitioned back into the world of education and will begin her new role as Assistant Director of Enrollment for SCAD on May 12th—combining her passion for creativity, education, and community engagement. William volunteers his dental expertise at the Savannah Volunteer Dental Clinic, giving back to the community by treating kids and those in need.
As for family traditions, they’ve kept a quirky Valentine’s ritual alive since William’s dental school days: thin-crust pepperoni pizza from Domino’s and a toast with Gruet bubbly. On the Varnedoe side, holidays often include hearty rounds of traditional Scottish songs, so you could say there's never a dull moment.
If you see the Verrillos (and Figgy!) out and about, don’t be shy—stop them and say hello. As Caitlin and William put it: “We’re the ones walking around with our little Italian Greyhound, Figgy, who’s probably leading the way. We can’t wait to meet you all—feel free to stop us for a chat (or a Figgy pet)!”
