Alice and Pearl: Whimsical Items for Your Kitchen & Home

Neighborhood resident Becky Prescott runs one of the sweetest handmade item shops in Savannah, Alice and Pearl. Originally from Indiana, Becky loves cooking, indoor plants, (especially orchids,) and love music.

“I also love birds,” Becky confessed. “I can’t get enough bird feeders!”

Becky first started Alice and Pearl the year that her daughter was born. Her new role within the family meant that working with the Food Network required too much travel.

“ I had always enjoyed sewing, and all things retro, so I decided to try making pot holders. I found a loca kitchen store willing to sell them, and It just took off from there,” she began. “Alice and Pearl is all about retro and vintage vibes, and not taking yourself -or your kitchen decor- too seriously.  I hand sew retro, kitschy, and vintage-inspired kitchen accessories, such as pot holders, oven mitts, and aprons for the whole family. I think what sets me apart from the competition is simply the fabrics I choose.  I search high and low for the most fun and unique fabrics to add a bit of fun and whimsy to every kitchen.”

Becky has lived with her husband, Jamie, and their daughter, Annalice since 2008. Jamie works as a cinematographer/photographer and has been working on Cooking Channel and Food Network shows for several years.  Annalice is eleven and is excited to start middle school in the Fall.

When it comes to Alice and Pearl, Becky is truly passionate about her work, and the collaboration that she has with local businesses.

“I work with just a handful of shops, especially shops that specialize in locally made, and handmade, products. My latest venture has been trying my hand at making quilts! I plan on making as many more of them in the near future,” smiled Becky.
