A Chance Encounter, Years in the Making
For Michael Shoer and Pamela Jameson, life in Ansley Park has unfolded with a quiet sense of inevitability—proof that some stories take their time before revealing their true shape.
Michael moved to Ansley Park in 2016, though his Atlanta roots run much deeper. Raised in Marblehead, Massachusetts, he graduated from Boston University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations. Early in his career, he joined WBUR (NPR) in Boston as a radio news reporter and producer before taking a leap of faith in 1981—relocating to Atlanta to help launch Ted Turner’s then-experimental news channel, CNN. He thought he’d stay a year. That was forty-four years ago.
From Opposite Coasts—and Hemispheres—to Ansley Park
Pamela’s path to Ansley Park spanned continents. Born on Long Island and raised partly in South Florida, she earned degrees in Graphic Design and Art History from the University of Florida before beginning a career in advertising in Miami. Life soon carried her to New Zealand, where she lived and worked for 26 years as an art educator, raising her two daughters and building a creative life rooted in teaching, travel, and curiosity. She returned to the U.S. in 2019—ready for a new chapter, though unaware how quickly it would begin.
A Reconnection That Changed Everything
Michael and Pamela first crossed paths in 2012 through mutual friends and stayed loosely connected over the years. In February 2020, Pamela posted a photo of snow in a Roswell backyard. Michael noticed. A message followed. Lunch was suggested—simply a chance to catch up.
It wasn’t meant to be a date.
It became one.
It became one.
Their third date was supposed to be a two-week quarantine. Instead, Pam stayed. What began as a casual reunion quietly unfolded into a partnership neither expected, but both instantly recognized.
They were married in May of 2024.
Creative Lives, Shared Passions
Today, Pamela is living her dream in her light-filled studio overlooking 15th Street, where she creates original watercolor paintings of homes, children, and especially pets—artwork that radiates warmth and joy. Many neighbors recognize her work from Art in the Park, the One Day Sale, and neighborhood marketing materials she has also designed.
Michael is Founder and Managing Partner of Victory Spirits Development, where he works with distillers and whiskey brands nationwide, specializing in wholesale bulk bourbon and managing Bourbon Bond Funds that help finance new distillates for future bottling.
They share a love of jazz, cocktail culture, and art museums—whether close to home or while traveling.
A Blended Family Across Continents
Together, Michael and Pamela have built a blended family that stretches across the globe. Michael’s son Alex (38) is a clean-energy entrepreneur living on a houseboat in Sausalito with his fiancée, Serena—an accomplished executive chef originally from Bologna, Italy. His daughter Liz (36) lives on Long Island with her husband Adam and their two children, Emery (5) and Rowan (almost 3).
Pamela’s children—Cam (30) and Isabella (28)—both live in Auckland, New Zealand. Cam is a lawyer specializing in environmental law and is married to Sam, who also photographed Michael and Pamela’s wedding. Isabella is an aspiring writer and artist with a background in personal training. All of their children came together to celebrate Michael and Pamela’s marriage in Tuscany, a gathering that felt less like a beginning and more like a beautiful convergence.
And then there are Ella and Louis—their twin Maltipoo “pandemic puppies,” born in March 2020—well known for announcing morning foot traffic along 15th Street.
Life, Rituals & Romance in Ansley Park
Michael and Pamela are happiest immersed in the rhythms of the neighborhood. You’ll often find them upstairs at the Steamhouse Lounge on Wednesday evenings, at Eight Sushi Lounge for date night, or enjoying cozy early-evening dates at Holeman & Finch in Colony Square. They are also regulars on the lawn at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, where they are season ticket holders for Jazz on the Lawn and the Spring Concert Series. Pamela has also taught painting classes there and remains a strong supporter of its programs.
They are active participants in Ansley Diners, where shared meals have led to lasting friendships and a deeper sense of belonging.
Their favorite family tradition is Tropical Thanksgiving in Miami Beach, where Michael’s brother and sister-in-law host an annual gathering focused on one thing above all else: being together.
Why Ansley Park Feels Like Home
“We love that we can walk almost everywhere,” they shared. “Some weeks, we barely put miles on the car.” More than convenience, though, it’s the connection that defines life here.
In a neighborhood built on beauty, history, and community, Michael and Pamela have found a place where love arrived unexpectedly—and stayed.
