Junior League of Atlanta

Empowering Women. Strengthening Community. Building a Better Atlanta

A Century of Civic Leadership

For more than a century, the Junior League of Atlanta has been shaping the city we call home. Founded in 1916, the organization began as a small group of civic minded women determined to create meaningful change and has grown into one of Atlanta’s most respected volunteer and leadership organizations, leaving an enduring imprint on neighborhoods, nonprofits, and families across the metro area.

Leadership Through Service

At its core, the Junior League of Atlanta is about leadership through service. Members are trained not just to volunteer, but to lead. Through hands-on service, training, collaboration, and advocacy, women develop skills in project management, civic engagement, fundraising, and community leadership. This commitment to developing women leaders has fueled generations of impact across Atlanta.

Lasting Impact Across Atlanta

Over the decades, the League has addressed some of the city’s most pressing needs through sustained volunteer action and strategic partnerships. From improving education and health outcomes to supporting children and families, JLA has helped launch and support programs that continue to serve Atlantans today. Many well known local organizations trace their roots back to the League’s early work, reflecting its long term vision and commitment to lasting change.

A Focus on Literacy and Children

In more recent years, the Junior League of Atlanta has deepened its commitment to ensuring that all children in Atlanta have the literacy tools they need to succeed. Through its signature initiative, Every Child Reads, the League focuses on early childhood literacy as a critical foundation for lifelong learning and opportunity.

Every Child Reads engages volunteers, educators, and community partners to expand access to books, promote literacy rich experiences, and advocate for early learning. This work reflects JLA’s continued evolution to meet the needs of today’s families while investing in Atlanta’s future.

Honoring Service and Leadership

The Spirit of Voluntarism Luncheon will be held on April 21, 2026 at the Piedmont Driving Club. This event is an opportunity to celebrate the women who exemplify the mission and values of the Junior League of Atlanta.

At the 2026 Luncheon, we are proud to honor Abbey Glass, founder and designer of the Atlanta based womenswear brand Abbey Glass. A recognized entrepreneur and philanthropist, Abbey is known for her commitment to community engagement and supporting organizations that strengthen Atlanta.

We are also honored to recognize Audra Dial, an Ansley Park resident and past President of the Junior League of Atlanta, as the recipient of the Isoline Campbell Award, one of the League’s highest honors for sustaining members. This award recognizes extraordinary dedication, leadership, and lasting service to the League and the community.

A Community of Women, Connected by Purpose

Membership in the Junior League of Atlanta is as much about personal growth as it is about giving back. Women from diverse backgrounds come together with a shared purpose to strengthen Atlanta while building lifelong friendships. Through volunteer placements, committee work, advocacy, and leadership roles, members gain perspective, confidence, and a deeper connection to the city they serve.

Looking Forward

As Atlanta continues to evolve, so does the Junior League of Atlanta. Grounded in more than a century of impact and focused on the future, the League continues to prepare women leaders and invest in initiatives that strengthen children, families, and communities across the city.
