Meet the Garner-Ivers Family

"We love the sense of community and the great relationships we have developed."

In this issue, we are thrilled to feature the Garner-Ivers family as our cherished family of the month.

Richard Garner, the family's anchor, carries with him a wealth of experience and a heart dedicated to service. Having spent over two decades in the Washington, DC area, Richard's roots trace back to the streets of Memphis, Tennessee. Alongside him stands Lorissa Ivers-Garner, a spirited entrepreneur and the proud owner of Red Salon in Frankfort, Kentucky. Lorissa's Kentucky upbringing in Henry County adds a touch of Southern charm to their collective narrative.

Their family is comprised of four children: Emilie Garner (21), who is currently navigating her academic journey at the University of Virginia, following in her father's footsteps, William Garner (21), Kip Ivers (7), and Kort Garner (5). The younger members of the family, Kip and Kort, bring youthful energy and boundless curiosity into their home while attending Anchorage Public School and Keneseth Israel Preschool, respectively.

Beyond the walls of their historic residence, affectionately known as Graytower, the family extends their embrace to a charming array of furry friends and feathery companions. Dogs, cats, fish, parakeets, and even peacocks find solace and love within their home.

Anchorage became their home sweet home in the spring of 2020. For Richard, community engagement isn't just a commitment; it's a calling. Serving as the Board Chair for Family and Children's Place, his dedication spans nearly seven years, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many.

The Garner-Ivers family finds solace and joy in the tight-knit fabric of Anchorage life. The genuine connections forged in a short span have transformed Anchorage into more than just an address. Next time you see them out and about, please make sure to give them a warm welcome.
