The Egg Hunt / Spring Party brings the sunshine!

The Women’s Community Club of Rolling Hills in conjunction with the Rolling Hills Community Association hosted great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to delicious treats, a lively egg hunt, a fun 50/50 raffle, and an entertaining magic and puppet show performed by Arty Loon. We had a total of 285 RSVPs and nearly 500 people attended the fabulous event on April 2, 2023!

After so much rain the past weeks, we were blessed with sunshine as Peter Cottontail & Mopsy hopped into Rolling Hills and the beloved story of Peter Rabbit came to life at the beautiful home of the Occhipintis on Crest Road. Our two Egg Hunt Chairs were Brittany Gardner and Kristen Kahl-Reno.

The egg hunt began at 1:30 with 1500 eggs divided into four lanes separated by age groups. It was great fun to watch the littlest children toddle down the grass in search of eggs all the way up to the 9-year-olds who raced across the grass at record speed. Across all the age groups, the eggs were found in a flash!

Thanks to all of the WCCRH lovely ladies, their sons, and husbands who provided the refreshments and volunteered for this special event. It was a team effort all around. The array of food was impressive which was all created or donated by our WCCRH members. Also, our popcorn machine popped all party long and our cotton candy machine provided young ones with a very delicious sweet surprise at the end of the day. We had Arty Loon perform for us this year and the children and adults alike were captivated by his magic, puppetry, and joke-telling. We also had a bubble station and a temporary tattoo table for the kids.

A special thanks to the young men and women who provided service hours to our group (we had volunteers from both the 4H Club and Assembly)! Thank you to Arty Beckler and the crew for delivering and picking up tables, chairs, and supplies for the event. Thank you to both Kristin and Baker Smith for their special role at the Egg Hunt!

This year, we planned a successful 50/50 raffle so we would split the pot with the winner! Dustin McNabb was chosen as the lucky winner of the raffle and generously donated the prize back to the Women's Club! This money will go toward planning more fun events like this one.

We were so pleased to have both Peter Rabbit and Mopsy there to provide a way for parents to get photos with their children on this special day (also each bunny had an additional 150 eggs to pass out). For many, it was the first time that their child got a photo with a bunny rabbit. Special thanks to Rowena Cherry who was on hand to take photos all day!

As Earth Day is soon upon us (every day is Earth Day after all), we also incorporated a few eco-friendly items into our day: we used earth-friendly paper goods; we asked guests to bring their own water bottles and had water dispensers instead of passing out plastic water bottles; and we encouraged guests if they weren't going to reuse their plastic eggs, to turn them in at the end of the hunt so we can use them again next year!

Thanks to all of our guests for coming - we hope everyone enjoyed themselves!
