Macy Weeks is a Household name when it comes to being a Muirfin.

Coach Macy
If you’ve lived with a Muirfin under your roof anytime in the past decade, Coach Macy is undoubtedly a household name. Meet Macy Weeks, a Muirfield native, who has been a part of the Muirfins swim club for the past 16 years.
Her love of swimming began at the Muirfield pool on Glick Road when she was only five years old and is still part of her as she begins her last year of graduate school at Miami University. In total, she swam for the Muirfins for 10 years, (proudly earning her 10-year plaque), both swam and coached for the next two years, and then coached for the past four summers.
Having played different parts in many teams through the years, Weeks has gained a true appreciation for the team environment. Whether she was racing in a relay or coaching a group of young beginners, she has always loved being part of a team. She quickly learned the value of sportsmanship, which she has taught to all who she’s coached. Another aspect of swimming she loves is the excitement in the air behind the starting blocks at practices and meets.
At the suggestion of a long-time Muirfin-turned-club coach, Coach Axel, she joined the Delaware YMCA Riptide early in her swimming career and started competing all year round.
“I credit a lot of my career in swimming and coaching to Axel,” Weeks said. She remembers Coach Axel being there when she tried out for the Dublin Jerome High School swim team her freshman year. “I may have quit the sport after I didn’t make Jerome’s team. He helped me push through disappointment and helped shape me into the athlete and coach I am today through hard work, discipline and effort.”
At DJHS, Weeks was a 50- and 100-meter freestyle swimmer. Her teammates called her the “special snowflake” because she swam a sprint freestyle. Backstroke and butterfly were her best non-freestyle strokes. One of her most memorable moments as a Celtic was breaking the 200-meter freestyle record along with her three relay mates. She also made two consecutive trips to state in 2019 and 2020. Weeks will always remember swimming in the 200-meter medley and 200-meter freestyle relays in the finals.
Coaching has been equally rewarding for Weeks over the past six years. In the summer of 2023, one of her nine and 10-year-old girls relay teams broke the Muirfins’ 100-meter freestyle record by almost three seconds! During the same summer, she also led a boys 100-meter freestyle relay team to crush a previous record. The boys had worked all summer long to perfect their relay exchanges and, led by Weeks, left their mark in Muirfin history.
Being a coach turned out to be much more than Weeks ever anticipated. So many Muirfield kids experienced success and learned to love the sport on her watch. “I know that many of the swimmers that I’ve coached will grow up to do amazing things!” she said. “I’d like to say that I’ve met some future famous athletes!”
In thanksgiving for a sport that’s been such a huge part of her life, Weeks still encourages people, young and old, to try swimming. Joining Muirfins is obviously the best choice! To others, she advises to simply visit a pool. “It seems like a daunting task to begin swimming but getting yourself to the pool is half the battle,” she said. “Swimming takes a lot of work, but it is worth it when you are alone in the serene of the pool and moving through the water.”
