Maple Bourbon Pecans Recipe

From the Kitchen of Debbi Hamaty, aka The Mom Chef!

These maple, bourbon pecans have a sweet and salty flavor with a little bit of heat. They are naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup.
Made with a pinch of love, candied pecans make a delicious, homemade Valentine’s Day gift. I like to put them in a mason jar and tie a pretty, red ribbon around them for gift presentation. Your sweetie will love them.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp flaky sea salt *
1 Tbsp bourbon  ( or 2 tsp vanilla extract)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
3 cups raw pecan halves
( * if using fine table salt, may want to reduce to 3/4 tsp.  Best to start low, can salt more after baking).
.
Method:
Preheat 325 oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine pure maple syrup, melted butter, salt, bourbon, cinnamon & cayenne in a medium bowl with a whisk until blended. Add pecans & stir to coat.
Place coated pecans on lined baking sheet and spread out in a single layer.
Bake, stirring after first 10 min and then every 5 min thereafter, until almost no maple syrup remains on paper and nuts are deeply golden (23-25 min)
Remove from oven & stir. Taste and add more salt if desired. I also added more ground cinnamon & cayenne to my taste.
While pecans are still warm, separate any clumps and let cool completely on pan.
Store in an air tight container or bag. Will keep up to 2 months at room temperature.

Enjoy & wishing you and your family a Happy Valentine's Day!
Love,
Debbi, the Mom Chef
