More Than Manicures

The Heart Behind Sandfly Nails & Spa

For KD Dang, owning Sandfly Nails & Spa isn’t just a profession — it’s a passion rooted in family, creativity, and community. Born and raised on Whitemarsh Island, KD grew up surrounded by the nail industry. After starting college in pre-med, she eventually returned to her first love: helping people feel beautiful from the inside out.

Together with her husband, Vu, KD runs the Sandfly salon as both a business and a sanctuary. Known for its wide range of services — from manicures and facials to waxing and, as KD says, “a little cheap therapy on the side” — the space is designed for connection as much as pampering.

What makes Sandfly Nails stand out isn’t just the polish and precision, but the people. Clients often become part of the story — sharing major life milestones or simply stopping in for comfort on a hard day.

Beyond the salon, KD is committed to giving back. From pop-up events that feature local makers to unforgettable volunteer experiences — like a spa day for Isle of Hope School students — she’s always looking for ways to uplift others. Sandfly Nails also proudly supports Second Harvest and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Though salon ownership has its challenges, KD keeps her vision focused: creating space for joy, offering affordable, quality care, and growing a team built on trust and heart.

To new and longtime clients alike, she offers one piece of advice: speak up. “You deserve to get exactly what you want. We’re here to listen, learn, and make every visit better than the last.”
