Meet Elle Weathersby

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

My name is Elle Weathersby, and I live on Dibrell Trail drive. I attend St. George’s Independent School, and I am in seventh grade. I play soccer and basketball. I have been playing soccer for almost eight years and basketball for almost seven years. Soccer is my favorite sport.
I signed up to play soccer for my elementary school when I was 5 and scored my first goal in my first game and that is all it took. I have loved soccer ever since that day. I play attacking midfielder for 2009 Lady Lobos Rush Premier. I also love playing center forward when I get the chance. I also play midfield for Tennessee 2009 girls ODP first team, and I played midfield for Rush Select 2009 South Region team this year. I am the center on the SGIS seventh and eighth-grade basketball team. What I enjoy most about playing soccer is the competition, being aggressive, the challenge of playing tough teams, and of course, winning! My proudest moment playing soccer was scoring the penalty kick that tied my team up and sent us to overtime in the TN State Cup semi-final. We ended up winning, and we were D1 U12 Tennessee state champions! I would like to thank Coach Cooke for always encouraging me, and my mom for driving me to the fields and playing goalie for me while I practiced my PKs over and over. I admire Lindsey Horan and her playing style. She also came from Rush soccer, and she is a proven leader on the field. The advice I have for others that are looking to get into soccer is to always have a good attitude, be coachable, and always, always work hard. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” Beyond playing sports, I sing for Visions Performing Arts Studio. I have been singing since I was 6 years old. I hope in the future to play D1 College Soccer, and my ultimate dream goal would be to play for U.S. Women’s National Team.
