Kinderhaus Pediatrics

Dr. Suzanne Basey

Hi, I am Amy Garcia, MD, the owner of Kinder Haus Pediatrics. My husband, Marcos, and I have been married for 26 years and are both Air Force Veterans.  We have four amazing daughters – Mallorie, Adalynn, Elise, and Ivy, a son-in-law, Holden, and two very active mini-Australian shepherd dogs, Molly and Hades.
I originally grew up in Shreveport, LA, graduated LSUS and moved to the San Antonio Stone Oak area in 2000.  My husband grew up all over the world as an AF “brat” before joining the USAF himself.  My husband was assigned to Randolph AFB in 2000, and I worked in research at the University of Texas Health & Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) before starting medical school at the Long School of Medicine UTHSCSA.   I joined the USAF when starting medical school and completed a pediatric residency with the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium.  During residency, I worked as a pediatric resident with the University Hospital, Children’s Hospital of San Antonio (CHOSA), San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), and Ft. Hood.  Our family moved to Mclean, VA, for four years while my husband was stationed at the Pentagon.  During this time, I was a Pediatric Staff physician at Joint Base Andrews, MD, and an assistant professor at Uniformed Services Medical School, MD.

Our family moved back to Texas in 2014 and settled in the area.   We have always loved this area for the community, low crime, and great schools.   We love the proximity to San Antonio, New Braunfels, and the Hill Country.   Our oldest daughter graduated from Trinity University, our second daughter is a Canyon High grad, and our younger two daughters attend Garden Ridge Elementary.

Kinder Haus Pediatrics was founded in May 2021.   While I had been employed at a larger pediatric practice in the New Braunfels area, I felt the need to have a smaller, more personalized setting for my pediatric patients.   We take pride in providing personalized care with great customer service.    Our team strives to deliver a quality experience while providing great evidence-based medicine in accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics clinical care guidelines.

Over the year, our clinic has grown to six additional staff members:
  • Mallorie is my office manager and handles referrals, HR, insurance verifications, and many other hats!
  • Holden is one of our friendly voices on the phones and, handles new patient registrations, medical records and can frequently be seen dressing up in costumes at the office.
  • Chelsea is our newest front desk addition.   She has many years of pediatric experience and handles multiple administrative duties, including medical records and scheduling.
  • Barbara and Sharon are our two fabulous medical assistants, and each has greater than 10 years of pediatric experience from clinic and urgent care centers.   These ladies will be the ones that check vital signs, give immunizations and perform various procedures.  They will also give your kiddos prizes or stickers at the end of visits.
  • Dr. Suzanne Basey has joined Kinder Haus in June 2022 from another practice.   Dr. Basey has worked a combined 20+ years in the San Antonio/Schertz/New Braunfels area. Dr. Basey and her husband, Kevin Yeary, have four daughters and are big Texas A&M fans.  Three of their daughters are either in attendance or graduated from A&M, and one is currently in middle school.   They have a cute rescue dog, Bailey.  Dr. Basey graduated from St. Mary’s University and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Her hobbies include traveling for her daughter’s dance competitions and Aggie football. She is a board-certified pediatrician and enjoys focusing on preventative care.
Our office is located three short miles from Garden Ridge at 5700 Schertz Pkwy.   We are open 8-4 Monday-Thursday and 8-1 on Fridays. Kinder Haus provides all scheduled well-child visits, immunizations, sports physicals, and various same-day sick appointments. Patient care at Kinder Haus is provided from newborn to 19 years old.  We perform a variety of on-site point-of-care lab-test and vaccines, including covid vaccines, TB testing, asthma management, and ADHD/mental health treatments. We even have expecting parent meet and greet appointments.

We are most grateful to our patients and their families for entrusting their precious children with our care. The most fulfilling aspect of our job is watching children grow and develop to blossom into great young adults.  We are overjoyed to be members of this community and look forward to many years to come.
