D&L Farm and Home-Denton
To say Rex and Jennifer Sanders are invested in the Argyle community would be an understatement. The happy couple has lived here for 28 years, and all four of their children went to Argyle schools. They know practically everyone in town by their first name, and their store, D&L Farm and Home-Denton, is as popular as it gets for a local feed store.
“We live five minutes from the store,” Jennifer said. “Two of our kids still work for us, so it’s very much a family affair.”
It’s difficult to stand out amongst the competition as an independent feed store owner unless you have something that truly separates you. The Sanders family has had no problems doing exactly that. Their customer service and commitment to down-home convenience are not only off the charts, but they’ve created a one-stop-shop for all your pet, animal, and lawn and garden needs. A quick walk through the front door will prove that. Every aisle is chock full of everything from feed, animal and pet health products, dog and cat food, gardening supplies, home goods, horseshoe supplies, and more.
They move a ton of hay, shavings, and feed year-round, and they have three delivery drivers with trucks that run six days a week. They also have partnerships with six local hatcheries, giving them the ability to sell chickens all year long.
In fact, many customers would go so far as to call D&L Farm and Home the Chicken Capital of North Texas.
“We’re not your typical feed store,” Jennifer said. “I think with the amount of poultry we sell, the hay, the different pet and animal health products, and our customer service, we have kept ourselves from getting lost in the mix. There are several feed stores around us, and that doesn’t include the big-box stores. You need something that separates you.”
D&L Farm and Home has been a staple throughout Denton County for 30 years. The Denton location was originally owned by Dean and Lezlie MacElroy, who sold it to Rex and Jennifer in 2009. The MacElroy family still owns five stores, including their most recent locations in Gainesville and Sanger. Rex and Jennifer both have backgrounds in animal health and the equine industry, and owning their own business is a dream come true.
D&L Farm and Home Denton is proud to serve all of Southern Denton County, including Argyle, Bartonville, Flower Mound, Lewisville, and everyone in between! For more information, visit dandldenton.com or call 940-891-0100.
