Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now with the JDog business.
Jim and I were born and raised in Colorado. Our father, Joe, a U.S. Army veteran, and mother Joyce were lifelong entrepreneurs. They instilled in us respect, integrity, trust, and a work ethic. We followed in their entrepreneurial footsteps. As a residential contractor, Jim brings 30+ years of construction building, project management, and real estate knowledge to every job. I owned and operated a small-business accounting firm focusing on the financial health, human relations, and business operations of over 75+ small businesses between Colorado, Arizona, and Hawaii. I make sure there’s attention to detail, follow-thru, and communication from start to finish on every job.
Justin Boucher, my husband and a North Dakota native, has been a master plumber/owner/operator for over 25 years. He is a respected entrepreneur in his field, bringing a wealth of experience to every job, including commercial, industrial, and residential plumbing and heating.
Together, we recognized an opportunity to combine our talents and offer a unique solution to junk removal in Cave Creek.
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention our team member Maverick: our 6-pound Parti-Yorkie—better known on the Cave Creekers' Infamous Bulletin Board Facebook group as the JDog mascot with his own backup camera! A recent video of him received over 100 likes in less than eight hours. He’s a social superstar! You can view the video on our Facebook page, JDog Junk Removal & Hauling Scottsdale; look for the Sept. 17 post.

What’s unique about your business?

1. We are dependable (we arrive when expected) and trustworthy, and we always show respect for your time, home/business, and belongings. We have 100+ five-star reviews on Google confirming this in the short nine months we’ve been in business. Here are a few reviews that we’re so grateful for.

“My goal was to donate two desks, a credenza and a bookcase from a second-floor home office. It was impossible to find a charity that would pick up. I researched companies that would remove the items from our home and found JDog. They offered a ballpark quote which was confirmed and honored. The gentlemen arrived on time and were extremely careful and respectful of our property. I couldn’t have asked for better service. Thanks for being there. I highly recommend their service.”

“These guys are amazing. Jim and Robert were extremely welcoming and friendly while they grabbed all of the furniture I wasn’t keeping. They also grabbed trash for me free of charge to help out. I would absolutely use this company again!”

“…JDog did a great job on my hauling of junk everyone was professional, it was quick, and the people that came out were very nice/presentable. It was like working with family, not just a business. They cared, and I really appreciate it. Thank you so much! I would recommend JDog to anyone.”

2. We hire locally (and veterans when we can!) and engage with the community through charitable efforts and donations. Around 60-80% of items JDog hauls away are kept out of landfills, so it’s always great when we can make it easier for clients to recycle. Additionally, we support disabled Veterans by contributing 10% of Wednesday proceeds to the Dogs4Vets.org training program run by the American Service Animal Society — an organization dedicated to enabling disabled Veterans to live a more productive and independent life through the use of service dogs. They offer lifetime support and service dog training for over 130 Arizona Veterans each year.

What’s a product or service your offer that not a lot of people know about? We offer concierge cleanup and labor services. Need help loading or unloading your self-service U-Haul? If you are moving yourself, we are happy to help with the heavy lifting. We offer efficient labor services such as loading and unloading items. Additionally, we provide full and partial cleanout services for estate sales, businesses, warehouses, and retail liquidation cleanouts. This includes all items, big or small!

Where might we see you on your day off? Enjoying the sunshine! You’ll find me on the golf course. Jim is an explorer; anywhere his Razor can go, he’ll go. Justin enjoys gardening and tinkering with old equipment and vehicles. He has an amazing talent for restoring old junk into fabulous new pieces you can enjoy for many years.

What was your first job? I was a movie theater attendant from age 13 through high school, which might explain my popcorn addiction! From the minute he could walk, Jim followed our dad to work at our Army & Factory Surplus store that our dad operated for 30+ years. Justin was the local neighborhood lawn boy. Holding true to his current talents, Justin would lend a helping hand to any neighbor in need, including gardening, household maintenance and repairs.

Business lesson you learned the hard way? You can’t do everything, so at least try to do the right things. Focus, step back from the chaos, clear your head, and re-prioritize. What really matters? That’s how you spend your time, money, and resources.
