Happy Mother's Day to Shelby Campbell Coleman and Her Family!

"A mother's arms are made of tenderness, and children sleep soundly in them." ― Victor Hugo

Mother’s Day is a special day for Shelby Campbell Coleman. Married to her husband Bryan Coleman, they are blessed with two children, Wilder (5) and Sargent (2). Seeing her children grow up with their dynamic personalities makes her heart swell with pride as a mother.

Midwestern Roots
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Shelby majored in Broadcast Journalism at Colorado University. “I went to UCLA for a year afterward to get a broadcast certificate,” she says.
As for Bryan, he hails from Lima, Ohio. After graduating from the Columbus School of Art and Design, he started doing computer graphics as well as metal sculpting and blowing glass. He followed his career path of digital design, finding fulfillment in the process. “Bryan and I come from really big families,” smiles Shelby. “We’re very close and we cherish them. That makes us who we are.”

Meeting at the Super Bowl
How did Shelby and Bryan meet? “Our first date, unofficially, was the Super Bowl in New Orleans in 2013,” she recalls. “We were both working the Super Bowl for CBS Sports. We met in the broadcast trailers out back.” At that time, the 49ers were playing the Ravens and Beyonce was the halftime act. “The power went down in the Superdome and CBS had to tap dance in the dark,” says Shelby. “The Super Bowl was on hold.” It was a moment like no other and one that both of them will never forget, commencing the start of their relationship. “Then we flew back to New York City, where we both lived and started our relationship,” says Shelby.

A Life in Sports Media and Design
Shelby's career in the sports media industry spans two decades, with a deep-rooted love for sports cultivated since her youth. “I have been a sports fan my entire life,” she shares.

Having been an athlete herself, she finds joy in being part of premier sporting events globally, including the Super Bowl, Olympic Games, and French Open. “These are fun and uplifting events,” she notes. “Being a part of those events in person is very adrenaline-inducing.”

Throughout her career, she has achieved numerous awards, including nine Emmy Awards, one Clio, and one Cynopsis “Top Women in Media.”

Bryan, a motion graphics designer for Apple, has spent the last five years blending his artistic talents with technology. Together, they share a passion for their respective crafts, finding fulfillment in the dynamic worlds of sports and design.

The Essence of Motherhood
For Shelby, the essence of Mother's Day goes beyond the joy of being a mom; it's about family as a legacy. "It’s not going to be the career or money that I leave behind – it’s going to be the family that I leave behind and their relationship with one another," she reflects. Being a mother is her most important role, leaving a legacy of love and connection for her children and the world.

The Dynamic Duo: Wilder and Sargent
Celebrating their birthdays in May, Wilder and Sargent bring a triple threat of emotion to the Coleman household. Wilder, at the tender age of five, is already a “little mother” herself. Her caring nature shines through as she watches over her younger brother, Sargent, with a sweetness that warms the hearts of everyone around her.

Wilder's natural affinity for dance and music makes her a born performer, while Sargent, the classic little boy, delights in diggers, cars, trucks, and the moon. Together, they form an inseparable bond, thick as thieves, bringing laughter and joy to the Coleman home.

Family Traditions and Adventures
As a family, the Colemans enjoy time together. Biking is their shared passion, whether it's riding around town or exploring the mountains near Steamboat, a favorite destination. Traveling, whether by plane or road trip, provides them with memories to cherish.

Weekends are reserved for making pancakes, sipping smoothies, and building forts in the house. A cozy family movie night is always a crowd-pleaser for this tight-knit family of four.

From Coast to Mountain Peak: A Journey to Denver
Having lived in New York City for 11 years and Los Angeles for 5 years, the move to Denver initially seemed like a compromise. However, the Colemans have found a new home in Denver, captivated by the city's vibrant cultural scene, including First Fridays, Jazz in the Park, and unique municipal events.

“Denver is exactly where we should be right now, raising our kids,” says Shelby with a heart of gratitude.

While they miss the energy of New York, Denver has become the perfect backdrop for raising their children. It’s a community filled with friends and ideas, and though New York runs through their veins, they have found a sense of belonging in the heart of Colorado.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, let's extend our warmest wishes to Shelby Campbell Coleman and her beautiful family. May your days be filled with the same love, joy, and laughter you bring to those around you. Happy Mother's Day!
